Western Burger Recipe
Fire up the pit!
Set up your cooker for two zone cooking, by putting the charcoal underneath one side. This will reserve that side for hot, fast, searing action, while the other side will benefit from radiant heat, to cook at a lower temperature.
Onion Rings and Jalapeno Chips
First up, let’s make batter for the onion rings and jalapenos. Mix the following ingredients in a large enough bowl, then dip the sliced & chopped veggies in it.
Heat some vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet on the grill. Drop the battered onion & jalapeno and fry until golden brown.
Grilling the Burgers
Form the minced meat into patties, and season with salt and pepper.
Now just throw them on the grill! Watch the side of the patty. Once the darkened color climbs up the side, flip and place a few tablespoons of white cheddar on it.
In the meantime, also give the buns a quick toast.
Assembling the Western Burger
First place a few jalapeno chips on the bottom bun. Place the patty on top, and then the onion rings. Finish with BBQ sauce.
Enjoy!
