  • Oil 2 Tbsp
  • Onion 1, small
  • Garlic 3 cloves, minced
  • Ketchup 2 cups
  • Molasses 1/3 cup
  • Sugar 1/3 cup
  • Chili powder 1 Tbsp
  • Black pepper 1 tsp
  • Smoked paprika 1/2 tsp
  • Yellow Mustard 2 Tbsp
  • Cider Vinegar 1/3 cup
  • Liquid smoke 1 or 2 tsp

The Best Homemade BBQ Sauce (Super Easy Recipe)

First things first – as with any recipe, prepare all of the ingredients before involving any sort of heat. In this case, that means chopping up the onions, and measuring out the liquid & dry ingredients.

Next up, place a small pan over medium high heat and add the olive oil. Once you get the olive oil hot, throw in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Stir lightly and let it cook until fragrant.

Next, add the ketchup and mix it in. Once it starts to bubble, add the molasses and the spices (feel free to adjust, add or remove to preference), cider vinegar, and yellow mustard. Finally, add the liquid smoke

Mix everything together, and let it cook for 5 minutes. Let it cool down a bit, then use a food processor or blender to get a nice, even texture. Then put it back on the heat, and reduce to your desired consistency.
