If you are looking for the best Big Mac recipe on the internet, search no more! This big mac recipe is an improved version of McDonald’s iconic version, keeping close to the original while simultaneously taking it to a whole new level.


  • 1 cup + 4 Tbsp Mayo
  • 3 tsp Sweet Relish
  • 1 tsp Prepared Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tsp White Wine Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tsp White Sugar
  • 2 small/medium burger buns
  • 80/20 minced meat
  • finely minced onion
  • 2 pickle slices
  • finely shredded lettuce
  • slice of american cheese

Better Big Mac Recipe

Start by mixing the sauce ingredients. Add mayo, sweet relish, prepared yellow mustard, white wine vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika
and white sugar to a small bowl and whisk it very well.

Moving on to the bun. McDonald’s uses a 3 layer bun, consisting of the top (crown), middle (club) and bottom (heel) sections. You cannot buy a bun like this in stores, but you can easily replicate this at home, using two buns that are small or medium sized. Then take the bottom of one bun and just cut off the bottom crust. Put it between the top- and bottom- sections of the other bun, and there you have it: the 3 layer Big Mac bun!

For the patties, separate the meat into two pieces a little bigger than a golf ball. Flatten them out on some parchment paper, until you have two very thin patties. Round them to make them look pretty. The reason you should use parchment paper is because it is very hard to handle the thin patties- now you can just cut around them and easily move them over to the grill or fridge! This way you can also stack them if you are making multiple burgers.

Usually it is a good idea to have everything ready before you move to the grill, because these patties will cook in less than a few minutes.

Proceed to place the patties on your flat top grill or skillet and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Also sprinkle salt and pepper on the other side when you flip them. You can also give the buns a toast in the meantime.

Time to assemble the Better Big Mac! Spread some sauce on the bottom bun, followed by onion, shredded lettuce, piece of american cheese and a patty. Then place the middle bun on top of that and add onion, shredded lettuce, the pickle slices and the second patty. Finally, place the top bun.
