How To Smoke Baby Back Ribs on A Barrel Smoker
Let’s cut right to the chase! After preparing the ribs (trimming, removing the membrane, etc.), give them a nice liberal coating with your favorite BBQ rub. Make sure to cover both the bone and meat side.
Pro Tip Since you are doing multiple racks of ribs, it’s a great opportunity to try different rubs & spices! Always wanted to try a new spice blend idea? Just do one rack with it. Do you have two BBQ rubs you love equally? Do half and half!
When all the racks are ready and seasoned, it’s time to hang the baby back ribs on a barrel smoker. Use the provided hooks, piercing the racks under the second bone.
Hang the racks vertically in the barrel smoker and let the heat do its thing. Cooking should take about 3 hours. Pull when the meat is tender – check doneness with the “toothpick method” or using a thermometer.
Now go ahead and sauce the ribs up with the BBQ sauce of your choice, before serving them to your guests (or are you having all 9 racks by yourself?)
