Ingredients for Bacon Bombs

  • 1-2 lbs of Ground Beef
  • 1-2 packs of bacon (2 strips per bacon bomb)
  • Small onion, diced
  • Green pepper, diced
  • 1 Cup mushrooms, diced
  • Seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic) to taste
  • BBQ jokes

Step 1: The Meatballs

The first step of cooking bacon bombs on the BBQ is, of course, making the stuffing. Get the ground beef in a mixing bowl, and add in the seasonings to taste. Feel free to add more ingredients, but a simple salt, pepper and garlic mix will do.

Portion the ground beef into meat balls. Flatten each meatball, cup it in your hand and begin filling it with your stuffing of choice. In this guide, the meatballs were stuffed with onion, green pepper and mushrooms. Don’t forget to add cheese (preferrably as much as you can!)

Step 2: The Bacon Weave

Once you have completed the process for all of the stuffed meatballs, it’s time to wrap them in bacon. To do that, lay down 2 slices of bacon crossed in the shape of an X.

Place the stuffed meatball on the middle of the X, and wrap the bacon ends around and fill in the gaps. You are now holding a batch of bacon bombs, ready for cooking!

Step 3: Grilling Your Bacon Bombs

Use a high quality and reliable meat thermometer to monitor the internal temperature of your bacon bombs and make sure you don’t overcook or undercook them.

Fire up your grill, and let temperature rise to 300ºF. Place the bacon bombs over indirect heat, and close the lid.

Let the bacon bombs cook for 30 minutes. Once that time has past, sauce the bacon bombs up with your favorite BBQ sauce, and close the lid back up.

Cook for another 15 minutes, then repeat the process.

Then cook for a final 15 minutes, to allow the sauce to set, while checking for internal tempetature. The target temp is 160ºF.
