You will need:
- Flap steak (Bavette)
- Olive oil
- Sweet potatoes (par boiled)
- Sugary alcoholic drink
- Reblochon cheese
- French baguette
French Style Steak Baguette Recipe
First things first: fire up your grill, and prepare a nice hot coal bed for cooking hot and fast. Place a cast iron skillet on the fire and add a little olive oil. Let it heat up while you are preparing the ingredients.
Next up, get your parboiled potatoes (boiled for 5 minutes, or just enough to soften them up). Slice the potatoes and throw them in the oil. Try to turn the potatoes as less as possible, to let them get crispy and get a nice brown color.
Slice an onion, move the french fries to the side of the skillet, and place the onions on the other side. You don’t want the two to mix, because the moisture from the onions will stop the potatoes from crisping up. Hit the onions with some alcohol and let them caramelize.
Moving on: rub some olive oil on the flap steak and season with salt. Then simply throw it directly on the grill. Be careful, because the thin meat will cook fast.
In the meantime, slice your baguette and prepare the Reblochon cheese. Spread some olive oil on the inside of the baguette. Once the steak is ready, assemble your baguette with sliced steak, french fries, caramelized onion, reblochon cheese and some fresh sliced tomato.
