Smoked & Braised Beef Short Ribs Recipe

Smoked & Braised Beef Short Ribs

Prepare your rub by mixing 1 part kosher salt to 1 part ground black pepper. If possible, grind the pepper yourself- there’s no substitute for freshly prepared ingredients!

Throw a generous amount of seasoning on the ribs, and rub it in well. The rub, combined with the juices that are produced during cooking, will form a gorgeous crust (aka bark) around the meat.

Place the ribs on a smoker preheated to 250ºF and cook for 2 hours. Then start spraying the ribs with your favorite beer every 20 minutes for 2 more hours (6 times total).

Time to braise the short ribs! Take them off the heat and place in a roasting pan. Add a can of beef broth, wine, and (optionally) a stick of butter. Cover the pan tightly with foil and place it back on the smoker for 2 more hours.

Your smoked & braised beef short ribs are ready! Slice and enjoy.
