There is absolutely no way this double cheese burger recipe does not make jaws drop and mouths water in anticipation of each saucy, spicy, cheesy bite. Brace yourself for a wild ride to flavor town because this easy cheesy burger cook is a lot more than it seems. Just take a look for yourself…
Ingredients (for 1 burger)
- ⅔ lb 80/20 Ground Chuck
- 2 Jalapeño peppers
- 3 slices Colby Jack cheese
- Burger bun
- Romaine Lettuce
- Pickled Peppers
- 1 tsp Brining Liquid (from the pickled peppers)
- ⅓ cup Mayo
- 2 tsp Ketchup
- 2 tsp Brown Mustard
- Salt & Fresh Cracked Black pepper
Epic Jalapeño Double Cheese Burger Recipe on the Kettle-Q
Step one: preparing the burger sauce. Get yourself some pickled peppers, and dice 1-2 (depending on their size). You need about 2 Tbsp of diced pepper for the sauce on each burger.
To the diced pepper, add ⅓ of a cup mayo, 2 tsp ketchup, 2 tsp brown mustard, and 1 tsp of brining liquid the pickled peppers came in. Finally, add salt & black pepper to taste. Mix all of the ingredients very well, and set the sauce aside.
And don’t forget to slice your Jalapeño peppers!
Step two: fire up that grill! Preheat your Kettle-Q or other flat top griddle for a hot & fast cook. In the meantime, divide your ⅔ lb ground chuck into two equal portions, and form each one into a patty (2 patties per burger, since this is a double cheeseburger!). Season each patty with kosher salt and black pepper.
Spread some canola oil (or other vegetable oil) on the griddle. When the oil is hot enough, throw the jalapeño pepper slices on there and cook until they start softening. When you start seeing some brown edges, remove them from the grill.
Step three: grill your burgers! Place them on the griddle with the side you seasoned facing down, and season the other side as well.
Flip the patties when it’s time. Having done this, place the jalapeño peppers on one of them, and cover with a slice of Colby Jack cheese. Place 2 slices of cheese on the other patty. Keep cooking until the cheese has melted, and give the buns a quick toast as well.
Finally, it’s time to assemble our jalapeño double cheese burger… Lay down some sauce on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce. Then stack the jalapeño patty on top of the other one, and place them both on your base. Optionally, spread a little more sauce on the top bun.
