Here’s how to pickle hot chili peppers to add a spicy kick to any sauce, salad, dip, or even your grilled or smoked meat. The peppers used in this step-by-step guide are Hungarian and Cherry hot peppers, but you can follow the same process for any pepper, hot or not.
You will need
- Hungarian Peppers
- Cherry Peppers
- 6 Cups Water
- ½ Cup Salt
- 6 Cup White Vinegar
- ¼ Cup White Sugar
How To Pickle Hot Chili Peppers
Step one: mix the water with the salt in a large bowl. Whisk together until the salt dissolves.
Proceed to prepare the hot peppers. Chop off the tops and discard them, then slice the peppers into rings.
Place the chopped peppers in a glass container (e.g. a jar) and top with the salt/water mixture. Make sure the saltwater completely covers the peppers. Close the jar and let it sit in a cool dry place for 14 hours.
After 14 hours, get the peppers out of the jar and give them a rinse. Give the jar a rinse as well, and put the peppers back in.
Mix the vinegar and white sugar in a pan. Bring the mixture up to a boil, then pour it in the jar to cover the peppers. Let the jar cool down, then place it in the fridge.
