I like anything that has to do with the outdoors. I am an avid fisherman, with a deep passion for fly fishing. This is probably why I love outdoor cooking.

Ballistic BBQ is all about outdoor cooking. My channel covers everything from very traditional “low n slow” smoking recipes to “hot n fast” grilling!

I also enjoy taking recipes that are traditionally cooked indoors, outside. I’ll show you just what I did to adapt these recipes to the outdoor cooker!

I cook the traditional way over charcoal and wood. The equipment I use includes a Gator Pit offset smoker, two Weber kettles, a Big Green Egg and a Pit Barrel Cooker.

I’m from San Diego, CA.

What got you started in BBQ?
My grandparents were from Missouri, so I grew up eating Southern BBQ. It became a huge part of our family weekends.

What got you started making videos on YouTube about BBQ?
I enjoyed watching BBQ videos on YouTube and one day I decided to give it a try with a pork butt. Never intended on doing more than that one video at the time.

What do you love the most about what you do in BBQ?
I have no problems sticking to the basics, but really love stepping out of the box. I enjoy grabbing local flavors from Hispanic or Asian markets and fusing them with my BBQ.

What’s your favorite meat to BBQ?
My favorite meat to BBQ is beef. Love meaty beef ribs, brisket and tri tip.

What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened while you were barbecuing?
The craziest thing that has ever happened to my while BBQ’ing was several years ago. I was doing a low n slow cook (pork butt) on an old Weber Kettle and halfway through the cook I pulled the lid to foil and one of the legs gave out. The Weber fell over spilling all of the charcoal and the butt onto my patio!
