Cherry Moonshine Glazed Smoked Chicken Wings Recipe

You have to try this smoked chicken wings recipe- trust us, they taste even better than they look. The cherry moonshine glaze, combined with a few other cooking secrets, make for a truly unique experience.

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup Midnight Moon moonshine
  • 1 cup cherry juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp celery seeds
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp dried garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Breading Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup baking powder
  • 1 tsp Chinese Five-Spice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cherry Moonshine Glazed Smoked Chicken Wings Recipe

Start off by smoking the wings on a smoker preheated at 250°F. Normally you would cook chicken at a higher temperature to get crispy skin, however you will be frying the wings later in this recipe.You can use some cherry wood to go with the cherry moonshine glaze we will be adding later.

While the wings are smoking, let’s go ahead and work on the glaze. Combine all the glaze ingredients in a cool pan (safety first!), then bring it up to a boil. Proceed to reduce it to a syrup-y glaze consistency. Then pull it off the heat and let it set.

When the wings get a nice golden brown color (around the 30 minute mark), pull them off the smoker. In a pan, heat some peanut cooking oil to 400°F. While the oil is heating up, mix the breading ingredients and toss the chicken wings until they get a light coat.

Fry the coated chicken wings. Do not fry too many at a time- depending on the size of your pan, they might clump together.

Put a couple tablespoons of glaze in a bowl, then add the chicken wings. Pour the rest of the glaze on top, and toss until the wings are covered.
